Husbands, fiances, boyfriends….you need to pay attention to this post. Girls like to feel special, they like to be surprised, they like to know you spend a lot of time thinking, anticipating and planning things for their birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Mother’s Day, National Cupcake Day, Groundhog Day. Haha, ok ok, maybe not the last 1…. 
Well, Phil is the master at this. He and his wife Tonya celebrated their 10 year anniversary recently and he wanted to make it special for her. So he decided to surprise her….big time. He booked some plane tickets to Colorado, made reservations at the uber fabulous Della Terra in Estes Park, hired me to take some anniversary pictures of them and has a few more things up his sleeve (which I can’t mention because Tonya is probably reading this post and I don’t want to spoil any surprises!)
I think anniversary photos are such an important thing to do. David and I had our 3 year anniversary photos taken this fall and I treasure them. I think it’s important to document your marriage every now and then. I would be kinda sad if the only good pictures of David and I were of just our wedding day and no other time in our marriage.
So Phil, Tonya and I went and explored Rocky Mountain National Park (no frostbite this time, yay!), we braved the wind and the cold, spent a bit of time wildlife watching and just generally enjoying ourselves. I’m so honored that Phil asked me to help him out in his great scheme of planning the best anniversary trip for Tonya. I was humbled by their love. I can only pray that my marriage is as fun as theirs is, 7 years from now.
