Meet Andrea!

Some of you who follow me on Facebook and Twitter have seen me totally bragging talking about my wonderful colleague, Andrea. Many of my past clients know Andrea because Andrea has been my “right hand man” and has shot a gazillion weddings with me over the past three years. She has been by my side for a lot of weddings! So why all the recent bragging? Well, I’ll tell you….

Over the past three years, Andrea has gotten to know the ins and outs of my business, how I work with clients, how I interact with couples, direct family pictures during a wedding day, help things run smoothly on the wedding day, stay out of the way and maintain a photojournalistic perspective of the day and just overall have a joyous time at weddings. She has basically become an extension of myself and my business.

One wonderful “problem” I have with my business is that I have more incoming clients than I can handle. Before now, that has resulted in me having to turn potential clients away when I was already booked for a certain wedding date. Oh how it pained me to do that! I wish I could shoot each and every wedding that came my way! As time has gone on, I also started to see Andrea’s ability for working independently.  So this summer, I made the decision to add Andrea as an Associate Photographer under Becky Young Photography. Starting in 2012, Andrea will be officially photographing weddings as a primary photographer under Becky Young Photography. This is timed perfectly as I am almost booked up for next year’s weddings, so Andrea is able to work with clients that I am not able to. Yipee!

So what does Associate Photography mean? Let me explain…first and foremost, I will have a lot of involvement with Andrea’s clients. I am the primary person of contact for all emails and phone calls, I schedule our meetings, engagement shoots and I’m also the one who will go over all of your final wedding details with you before your wedding. Andrea photographs the wedding and then I am in charge of editing all the images to ensure their close alignment with my style of photography. I am also responsible for the final delivery of images. My heavy involvement ensures that all of Andrea’s clients get the same exact treatment as the rest of my clients. Associate Photography clients are able to work with both Andrea and me, just in different capacities. It’s a team effort!

For anyone who knows me, you know that I take my business very seriously. I pride myself on making smart business decisions and I never make decisions that I’m not 150% sure of. So adding Andrea as an Associate Photographer under me was not something I did hastily. I believe so much in her talent, ability to work with clients and passion for wedding photography. I know this is a great thing for both of us!

Andrea has already booked several weddings for next summer and we’re thrilled to have had such an overwhelmingly positive response from clients who are working with Andrea. I can’t wait to start posting some of her weddings!

So without further hesitation, I introduce to you…Andrea!

*What is your favorite cupcake flavor? Red Velvet…so delicious!

*How did you meet Becky? I met Becky through a mutual friend at a study group while we were both in Grad School. We started talking about wedding photography and I scored a second shooting gig with her that day and we’ve been shooting together ever since! That was almost 4 years ago now!

*What’s your favorite thing about photographing weddings? My favorite part about photographing weddings is being a part of the excitement of the day and documenting happy people. It’s always a privilege to capture those intimate moments for couples so they can remember them for years to come!

*How would you describe your style of photography? I am a documentary photographer, so I work within the flow of the day. I document moments as they happen in a natural, organic way. I am always paying close attention to the special moments throughout the day so to ensure that I don’t miss anything!

*What is your favorite part of a wedding day? My favorite part of the wedding day is the slice of time right before the ceremony. Everyone is really excited and there is a lot of emotion to document. It is a really fun time for me to take pictures of the bride and groom with their close friends and family.

*What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy reading great books, baking yummy and interesting treats and taking long walks with my hubby and loving pooch.

*On a scale of 1-10, how awesome do you think Becky is? (bahahaha just kidding! But for the record, Andrea gave me a 10!!)Colorado wedding photography
