There is something unique about photographing the wedding of someone you care about. The stakes are a bit higher, perhaps? My desire to truly capture the essence of who they are is a bit stronger, and my fear of letting them down begins to creep in. But in the end, I have to push those fears down, rely on my instincts and trust myself to do the best that I can.
I met Krista in grad school and was immediately a huge fan of her big smile, big heart, passion for knowledge, and honesty. We really got to know each other during our first semester. We were placed in a “class” that was essentially a group therapy session with a few other students. Right off the bat, you were expected to open right up, share who you were, your fears, your past, your dreams. It was a bit intimidating! It was here that I learned about Krista’s deep love for Adrian, her commitment to him and her longing desire to spend the rest of her life with him. I was overjoyed when I found out she was engaged to be married to the love of her life. And I was even more thrilled when she asked me to document their wedding.
Krista and Adrian got married at a beautiful winery in the heart of Texas. “Tuscany in Texas,” read a sign on the road to the winery. It wasn’t lying! This beautiful venue made you feel like you were in the middle of the Italian wine country, it was absolutely breathtaking!
Adrian and Krista, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your beautiful wedding! I am humbled by your love and am thankful that you gave me the opportunity to spend the day with you. My favorite memory of your wedding day was during the ceremony, Krista, you had a tissue in your hand that you had used to wipe away your tears and it looked as if you were unsure where to put it. Without hesitation, Adrian grabbed your hand, took the tissue and put it in his pocket. It was like he read your mind. I know the Lord will bless your marriage and your life together. I wish you years and years of happiness and blessings!
A few of my favorites….

Even though the 100 degree days are gone, it was still really hot. I LOVE this shot of Krista and one of her bridesmaids attempting to cool off right before the ceremony

Love this shot of Krista and Adrian entering the reception
I convinced Krista to come outside and do a few pictures during dinner
