We had such an amazing time exploring! We camped for 3 nights and spent 4 wonderful days exploring Canyonlands and Moab. We hiked, we grilled over the fire, we witnessed some pretty beautiful sunsets, met other fellow travelers and just had an amazing time! Spring is most definitely a wonderful time in the desert. The flowers were blooming, the temperatures were mid 70s and we even got to witness a few rare rainstorms. We are so blessed to have this opportunity to visit such a beautiful area!

A few favorites from our time in Utah…

Gemini Bridges is one of the coolest places we visited. David has been to Moab a number of times to mountain bike ride and he told me about this spot. What you can’t tell from the picture is that we’re standing on an enormous arch with a good several hundred feet drop below!This was one of my favorite things! On our hike into Chesler Park in the Needles District, you have to walk through an awesome slot canyon. It was probably only 3 feet wide, it was so cool! Definitely wouldn’t want to be trapped in there during a flash flood though!It’s easy to lose the trail while hiking on rock, so these rock cairns mark the way (most of the time)We found a pretty sweet camping spot on our last night.

We were blessed with sunny skies, warm temperatures, peaceful surroundings and a great group of people celebrating. We even had some surprise visitors at the wedding in the form of elk and wild turkeys. You just never know what you’re going to get having a mountain wedding in Colorado! Amanda and I particularly loved the wild turkeys and managed to try our best at gobbling at them. Sadly, my gifts don’t lie in turkey calling. The day went off perfectly without a hitch and we got some great images too!

Matt and Amanda, I had such a fantastic time with you yesterday. Thank you so much for allowing Andrea and I to hang out with you and document such a special time in your life. I am so beyond in love with your images, I can’t wait for you to see them all! Wishing years of blessings and love!

Many of you know that my husband is a journalist. He writes about beer, the bicycling community and health/fitness for a local daily newspaper. This year, his editors asked him if he would also like to be the ski reporter and write reviews of various ski resorts and backcountry trails in Colorado. I’m not sure even half a second went by before he happily accepted the offer.

At first I was jealous. But then I started scheming up ways to join him on his many free ski days around Colorado. “Well surely if they ask you to write these reviews, they are also going to need pictures to go along with your stories…right babe?!” And thus I wiggled my way into a wonderful winter full of free skiing. Because we are spoiled and we hate crowds, we were able to go up on weekdays and have the snow all to ourselves. It was absolutely heavenly.

On several occasions, we were met with 12+ inches of powder, which is incredible considering the resorts didn’t get all that much in the way of snow this year. But even on the non-powder days, basked in sunshine, blue ski, snow capped peaks and quality time together doing one of our favorite things. I’m not sure we’ll ever have an opportunity like this again, so we soaked in every minute we could.

While I can’t share my professional photos, because the newspaper has them, I can share a few of my iPhone/Instagram photos of our wonderful winter. What a lucky girl I am to call this my life!

In my opinion, Beaver Creek has some of the best views in the whole state. You can see the entire Gore range, it’s beautiful!

David is rarely happier than when he’s in the mountains with skis on!

While we were staying in Steamboat Springs, we had a chance to check out the Ice Castles there. If you ever have a chance to go to Steamboat, you’ve got to check it out!

Winter Park was one of our first stops. I’ve been skiing for over twenty years and I’ve never been this cold in my life while skiing! It was -20 with the windchill. Brrrr!

We had our first date at Arapahoe Basin ten years ago. It’s always so fun to go back to where it all began!
