Hi there! My name is Becky and I am a photographer based in beautiful Colorado. I specialize in elopements and intimate weddings for happy couples who love the great outdoors as much as they love each other.
Want to get to know me a little better? Here are some of the common questions that people ask:
Where is your favorite place to photograph a wedding or elopement in Colorado? I am a Colorado girl to my core. I grew up in mountains and I go there every chance I get. So any time I have the opportunity to photograph a wedding or elopement in the mountains, my heart comes alive. Whether it’s at a ranch, lodge, the top of a mountain, the middle of a forest full of pine trees or a ski resort, I’m a happy camper. If you’re looking for a place to get married, I have some great recommendations on specific wedding venues or elopement locations in Colorado, just click the links! If I had to narrow it down to one place, I’d say Rocky Mountain National Park….I’ve spent almost a decade exploring trails and areas within the park and there is always something new and beautiful to discover there!
How long have you been photographing weddings and elopements? How many weddings have you photographed? I am currently in my 8th season of being a full-time photographer and I have photographed over 140 weddings and elopements. I have loved every minute!
Does your husband photograph elopements with you? David is a very talented photographer (there are times when I must admit that his images are better than mine!) and when he’s not skiing, mountain biking, climbing 14ers or doing something else in the mountains, then he is often by my side. I’m so blessed to have him as a travel companion through the mountains as I head out to remote elopements!
Do you only photograph elopements? Pretty much! I strongly believe that people should do what makes them happy for a living. Photographing small weddings and elopements in the beautiful outdoors makes me happy. So that is what I do! One of my biggest creative passions is landscape photography, so I frequently do this in my free time!
Do you have insurance and do you pay taxes? Yes and yes! I’ve always believed in running a business with integrity and honesty. For that reason, I do everything legitimately and legally. I carry both business liability insurance, indemnity insurance and equipment insurance. And I pay state and federal taxes.
Do you charge travel fees in Colorado? Heck no!Any chance I get to travel around this beautiful state of mine is a privilege and it’s not something I charge for. That being said, if your wedding is far away (like Telluride!) I do appreciate a hotel room.
What kind of gear do you use? I’m a Canon girl. I LOVE the creamy skin tones and vibrant colors that Canon lenses produce, so I think I’m going to be a Canon user for life. If you really want to know exactly what gear I shoot with, here’s the list:
- Canon 5DmarkIII
- Canon 5DmarkII
- Canon 50mm f/1.2L
- Canon 16-35 f/2.8L
- Canon 85mm f/1.8
- Canon 135mm f/2
- Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L(IS)
- Canon 430ex flash x2
- Cybersyncs (off-camera flash triggering system)
In addition to all that, I have an abundance of batteries, memory cards, more batteries and more memory cards.
How many weddings do you photograph each year? I currently photograph anywhere from 15-25 elopement ceremonies each year. In addition to elopements, I also photograph 1-5 intimate weddings at well. My associate photographer, Andrea, typically photographs 15-20 “big” weddings each year. This has given me a lot of breathing room and has allowed me to focus more on my client’s happiness, my marriage, family, traveling and my obsession with camping in the mountains.
How long have you been married? David and I have been married for over 8 and have been together for almost 12! We were married on September 2, 2006 at the Historic Pinecrest in Palmer Lake, CO. It was absolutely the most joyful day of my life! Marriage has absolutely been the most amazing blessing I have ever experienced!
How would you describe your style of photography? My style is very relaxed and simple. I am always looking to document things in a natural way that will be timeless 50 years from now. I believe in good photographic direction without being awkward and stiff, I love when my clients are able to just relax and have a good time in front of the camera. I also place a big focus on the natural beauty of Colorado. We have such a beautiful backdrop for weddings in this state, I can’t help but incorporate this into my images.
Do you travel outside of Colorado for weddings? Of course! David and I have been beyond blessed to travel to some truly beautiful locations to photograph weddings (helloooo Alaska!). I am more than happy to travel for your wedding, just shoot me an email for my travel rates and we can go from there!
