Chateau at Fox Meadows Wedding {Casey & Sarah}

Every wedding photographer fears the day when an unexpected emergency arises right before a wedding. Maybe it’s a car accident, or the stomach flu, a child is hospitalized with an illness or a family member passes away. We dread these moments, not just because they’re difficult but because they will inevitably interfere with us photographing a wedding. I take my job so seriously, and am so deeply committed to my clients and their weddings that it pains me to even think about not being able to photograph their weddings due to an emergency.

Thankfully, in almost 100 weddings, I’ve never had one of these emergencies happen. Until this December.

I was unexpectedly scheduled for a major surgery 5 days before Sarah and Casey’s big day. There was no getting out of the surgery, it had to happen. And there was absolutely no way I would be recovered enough in 5 days to be at their wedding.

Sarah and Casey were so understanding and accommodating when they heard the news that I would not be able to be at their wedding. Believe it or not, their primary concern was me. 5 days before their wedding, and they’re worried about me, wanting to make sure I’ll be ok. What wonderful, caring, selfless people my clients are! I absolutely adore Sarah, we have known each other for quite a while as she frequently does some editing for me. I’m so incredibly lucky to work with such amazing people!

Thankfully, I’m always prepared and I had a backup plan. I have many close friends in Colorado who happen to be fantastic wedding photographers and we all work together to help each other out when situations like these arise. My dear friend Melissa and I have frequently talked about being willing to help each other out if something were to suddenly happen to either of us and we couldn’t photograph a wedding. I called up Melissa and Andrea, explained my situation and without hesitation, they both generously agreed to help me out. Melissa is incredibly talented and I knew she would do an outstanding job at Sarah and Casey’s wedding. And I was right, the photos she took are amazing!

Melissa and Andrea worked very hard to make sure that Sarah and Casey’s wedding was documented with the utmost care and attention to detail. I am so so so so SO in love with how the photos turned out. Going through them, I felt like I was actually there, living through all the special moments with Sarah and Casey. Afterall, that’s what good wedding photographers do, they tell stories through images and allow you relive such a special day.

Sarah and Casey, I don’t have words to express my gratitude for your understanding hearts. Thank for being so kind and flexible. I wish so much that I had been able to be at your wedding, but I am so delighted that you were in good hands with Melissa and Andrea. You both have been so wonderful to work with, I can’t thank you enough! I adore these images and I know you do too! I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!
