Christmas, in focus

I can’t tell you how many times over the years I have said, or heard someone else say, “It just doesn’t feel like Christmas this year.” Admittedly, those years when I’ve said that have typically been insanely busy; full of meetings, working, running around. I get so caught up in life, that I forget to take a moment and enjoy the Christmas season.  I forget to take the time to enjoy the reason behind all the lights and cookies and presents. Christmas isn’t my focus, keeping my head above water is.

These past 12 months have been very eye-opening for me in many ways. I have been blessed beyond comprehension with such an incredible family, wonderful husband, a job that I love, awesome clients, a warm home, and cuddly little kitties. I have just about anything a girl could ever need. This year, my focus is on my family, my husband, my friends, the Lord, baking treats, decorating the tree, listening to Christmas music, watching the snowflakes fall, breathing in scents of pine and mulled wine. My focus has been on Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all of my family, friends and clients! I hope you’re able to keep it all in focus.

Kirsten - Wow!!!!! So amazing Becky. I love the words, the pictures, this whole post...... and that reminds me that I have a few bokeh/christmas light photos I took a few holidays ago that I should go and "dig up". Merry Christmas Becky! I am thankful to have "gotten to know you" in 2009 and I hope to get to meet you in person in 2010!

Stephanie - What beautiful Christmas Treekeh :) Merry Christmas to you and David! Congratulations on having such a fantastic year which has really allowed you to put your focus and priorities where they ought to be, with family. I hope you two have a wonderful New Years. We will have to plan on getting together soon!

Heather - I just had to chime in and say how wonderful and awesome the points you've made are....I aspire to have that peace & calm & collectiveness...I feel like I miss Christmas every year and it makes me sad that it flies by practically unnoticed because I let other things get in the way. so, I plan that next year will be different. very cool & thank you!
