Last Saturday was kind of bittersweet for me. Sweet because I got to photograph a fabulous wedding of one of my favorite couples (congrats Jennie and Chad!). Everything went perfectly, the images are beautiful, the day was fun, I could not have asked for a better wedding! Bitter because it was officially my last wedding of 2009.
This is the first time since I started my business that I’m allowing myself to go longer than 3 weeks without shooting a wedding. Whoa. Part of me is scared (like…what am I going to do with all that free time?!). Part of me is excited (like…oooo there are so many fun things I can do with all that free time!). Most of all, I’m just looking forward to spending quality time with my husband and family, skiing, baking and playing in the snow.
One thing that crossed my mind as I recently decided to preserve my sanity by not photographing so many weddings was “uh oh, what the heck am I going to put on my blog?” I’ve gotten so used to blogging every week with fun pictures from recent engagement shoots and weddings that it’s going to be really weird to not blog another wedding for a while.
Then I thought about it. I’ve gotten some great feedback from my clients and other folks who happen to stumble upon my blog about the more personal posts I do. Apparently, some of you are amused with my rambling about things like marriage, cupcakes, and life in general. Well get ready, because there’s a lot more where that came from!
Over the next few months, while I relish my downtime, I’m going to try my darnedest to keep blogging as always. From my travels in Colorado, to skiing adventures, to good recipes I come across, I’ll be blogging about all the things going on in my life. And if my 2 cats ever chill out for longer than 3 seconds, I might even post a little photoshoot of them.
Here’s my first attempt at getting Davis to sit still for a portrait. He may look cute and sweet, but don’t let that fool you!
